The Top 10 Singles and Albums on iTunes

In top spot on iTunes’ top selling single list is Miley Cyrus’s ‘Party in the USA’ of which the demo was leaked online in July and has reviews rating it an up-tempo track with semi-autobiographical lyrics. Next in line is ‘I Gotta Feeling’ by the Black Eyed Peas. This infectious song has a catchy tune, but is deemed to be a bit too repetitive. Jay Sean’s first video release with Lil’ Wayne has certainly made its mark on US soil. Titled ‘Down’, Sean has Lil’ Wayne backing him right throughout the single. In fourth place on the list is Jay-Z’s ‘Run This Town’ featuring Rihanna and Kanya West, which jumped to the 3rd position on the Billboard Hot 100, making it Jay-Z’s highest peak as a lead artist to date. Others include “Whatcha Say,” Jason DeRulo; “Use Somebody,” Kings of Leon; “Hotel Room Service,” Pitbull; “Good Girls Go Bad (feat. Leighton Meester),” Cobra Starship; “She Wolf,” Shakira and “Fallin’ for You,” Colbie Caillat.

Amongst the top 10 albums are Whitney Houston’s ‘I Look to You’ deemed boring and disappointing by most reviewers. ‘Ready’ by Trey Songz, making 2nd place on the list takes cues from R. Kelly, mocking self-parodying excesses of boudoir R&B. Kings of Leon’s album ‘Only By the Night’ is next on the list with reviewers not liking the new and revamped sound long on astral backed by ‘blippy keyboards and droney guitars. Also on the iTunes’ top selling albums list are – “Sci-Fi Crimes,” Chevelle; “Breakthrough,” Colbie Caillat; “Before the Frost… Until the Freeze,” The Black Crowes; “Artwork,” The Used; “Ellipse,” Imogen Heap, “Awake,” Skillet and “The Blueprint 3,” Jay-Z.
