70s, 80s, 90s Music

The music of the past decades is way better than the music produced now. For most people 80s music is the best kind of music there is and it is considered by some as the best music era. Sure, the fashion was awful, but there is no denying that music in the 80s were a lot tasteful than today. Michael Jackson and Madonna are just a few of the artists who dominated the pop music charts in the 80’s. Alternative Rock music was also big then and the alternative rock bands R.E.M., Sonic Youth and The Pixies were a few of the ones dominating the alternative rock scene then. Meanwhile, Queen, Bon Jovi and Poison were among the hard rock and heavy/glam metal rock bands that were big back then.

Electronic music was also very popular in the 80s. Unlike some of the music in the 80s that were just a continuation of a trend from 70s music such as punk rock, contemporary R&B originated in the 80s. With stars like Lionel Richie, Prince, Stevie Wonder and Diana Ross dominating the music world by writing and composing songs that topped the music charts from the late 70s to the 80s. Tina Turner, Whitney Houston and Janet Jackson were a few of the stars that debuted in the 1980s and most of their songs made it to the top of the charts.

The most popular music during the 90s is perhaps a sub genre of alternative rock which is grunge. Bands like Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Goo Goo Dolls and The Smashing Pumpkins made the music genre, grunge famous. 90s music also opened doors for Indie rock bands as well as Pop Punk, with Blink 182 and Green Day made it big.
