New American Idol winner, Scotty McCreery

Season 10 of American Idol has a new winner. It is 17-year-old country singer Scotty McCreery. This year’s show had several good contestants and it was really hard to tell who would win, specially when it came down to the top 10.  Pia Toscano, a viewers’ favorite, was eliminated at the 7th position, but got a rtecord deal the next day. James Durbin, the metal singer, was also elimated, at #4 position.

It came down to top 3 Haley Reinhart, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina. Haley was eliminated last week and the finale came down to Scotty and Lauren. At the end 90 million voted, voting a total of 122 million times. This year’s finale had slightly less viewer’s than last year, but overall it was the best year for American Idol, according to the producers.

It is expected that Scotty McCreery would have a successful music career, because he is a country artist and the most successful American Idol so far has been Carrie Underwood, who is a country artist.

The results show had several performances by artists such as Lady Gaga, Steven Tyler, Tony Bennet, Beyonce, Marc Anthony, Judas Priest and Tom Jones.

For Season 11, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler are signed up to come back as judges, but Jennifer Lopez had only a one year deal, so it is unknown if she will reach a deal to come back.
