Rolling Stone caught up in a controversy over its recent cover

Since November 1967, the Rolling Stone magazine that publishes every two weeks brought in latest music industry and other news to the masses in the United States. With over 1.5 million copies in circulation bi-weekly, the Rolling Stone magazine has made a name for itself. However, in July 2013 it made headlines for its controversial cover depicting the only surviving Boston Marathon bombing suspect young Dzhokar Tsanaev on its front cover. The headline read; “The Bomber: How a popular, promising student was failed his family, fell into radical Islam and became a monster”. Many Americans were outrageous and some even started a boycott of the popular magazine. Some big name main street companies including CVS, Walgreen, and 7-eleven banned the magazine issue from their stores.

The Wenner Media LLC based in New York City owns and publish the magazine. However, the magazine was originally found in San Francisco, California in 1967. Today it is known for its musical coverage and for political reporting. Sine 1990s it changed its orientation to suit young adults covering a wide range of issues including television shows, film, popular music, in-depth political stories and coverage of financial and banking issues.
