In the music industry one of the most succesful methods of getting noticed, either as a producer or songwriter or even as a musician, is to get yourself an internship at a studio or record company. There is the good and the bad when it comes to being an intern but those who do impress tend to get breaks they could only dream of. The tips written below will provide you with a basis of making the most of your internship.

– Be punctual – be on time for meetings and to work. You should also try to be the first one in and the last one to leave. It shows dedication and disciplined hard work.
– Be keen to learn new things.
– When you meet new co-workers, introduce yourself and be friendly.
– Always complete the assigned tasks before moving on to other work.
– Help your co-workers by volunteering to take on their work if they report ill or are on holiday.
– You should be willing to do the grunt work; even the most boring and painful tasks.
– Offer your assistance to help build or tear down studio setups or even prepare business reports.
– Learn as much as possible about the positions that lead to managerial or executive jobs. There is a ladder to the managers seat, learn how to climb it.

What you should not do:

– Do not offer your opinion on how things would be if you were running the organization.
– Never make personal phone calls in the presence of other co-workers
– Never talk bad about co-workers, any celebrities or producers with your co-workers or industry professionals.
