Canada celebrates achievement in music with Juno Awards

Presented annually, Juno Awards honor Canadian music artists. It is considered to be the Canada’s music awards by many. Started in 1970, except for 1988, it has been conducted each year lately in late March or early April. It acknowledges and rewards Canadian musical artists and bands of their musical and technological achievements. Winners are being chosen by the members of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences or a panel of experts depending on the category. Currently there are 44 awards in categories ranging from Aboriginal Album of the Year to World Music Album of the Year and in between.

The 2013 Juno Awards were held on April 20-21, 2013 honoring artist’s work in the latter part of 2011 and all of 2012 and the ceremony was held in Regina, Saskatchewan with the surrounding area hosting many events. 2013 Juno Fan Choice Award went to Carly Rae Jepsen, Céline Dion, Justin Bieber, Leonard Cohen, Drake, Mariana Trench, Metric, Michael Bublé, Nickelback and Hedley. The 2014 awards which will be held on March 30, 2014 will be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the MTS Centre. The show lately is selecting a famous artist at the time to host the event and the 2014 host has not been announced yet.
